Building Stronger In-House Quality Control

Quality control is becoming an increasingly important part of GY's manufacturing system.

GY is fully committed to establishing an in-house quality control laboratory designed around applicable CSA testing requirements for ice hockey protective equipment.

Once operational, the laboratory will allow us to conduct internal verification tests on products such as ice hockey helmets, helmet cages and visors, including routine production-batch checks rather than relying only on samples prepared before third-party certification testing.

For buyers, this creates an important advantage: potential quality issues can be identified earlier in the production process.

Third-party laboratory testing remains essential, but external testing schedules can involve additional cost, transportation and lead time. If a potential issue is only discovered during final external testing, tooling may already have been completed and production or shipping schedules may be affected.

Our in-house laboratory is therefore designed to act as a pre-verification and quality-control facility.

It does not replace accredited third-party testing or formal certification. Official certification and accredited testing remain the responsibility of authorized certification bodies and qualified independent laboratories.

Instead, GY's objective is to replicate relevant testing methods internally as closely as practical, helping our engineering and QC teams identify potential problems before products are submitted for formal testing or released for shipment.

The goal is simple: reduce uncertainty between development, production and certification — and improve consistency from sample to mass production.
